ASU-Newport employs over 200 individuals and welcomes 1800 students across three campuses each semester. ASUN has always been committed to providing meaningful student experiences, and the addition of intercollegiate sports is an exciting opportunity to enhance student life while simultaneously having a major impact on the growth and development of our region. The benefits of community college athletics are numerous:

• Athletic involvement leads to increased student success and retention, as well as improved academic performance and completion.
• Intercollegiate athletics increases diversity among student populations and helps attract students from underserved groups.
• Aviator Athletics will increase tourism to the area. Visiting teams and fans from Arkansas and Oklahoma (ASUN’s NJCAA region) will find lodging in nearby hotels, dine in local restaurants, and support local businesses.
• Participation in sports teaches discipline, hard work, and perseverance – all valuable skills for life and in the workplace.
